Mosquitos, freezing cold, mysterious taiga. Inhospitable places where thousands of prisoners have suffered. To document abandoned Gulags in Siberia, you have to walk miles in their shoes. „An important film that takes you right into the heart of the Gulag country. As a group of friends sets out on a journey to document an abandoned camp, they encounter the material traces of one of the greatest crimes of the 20th century. Set against the awe-inspiring nature of Siberian taiga and the Yenisei river, their emotional journey helps visualize the experience of millions of people who went through Stalin’s Gulag.“
Izabella Tabarovsky, Wilson Center
„An exciting story about the adventures of a Czech expedition to the Gulag country. A story that is also uncomfortable and sad. It is remarkable that it took a Czech expedition to bring us back the memory of the terrible episodes of the Russian past.“
